what is mobile choreography?

mobile choreography is another way of making photos and films. instead of making a photo with just one camera, mobile choreography uses multiple cameras of smartphones to create something more unique

1st assignment

for the first assignment we had to make our own mobile choreography, first we had to make a composition of different objects and film it from different viewpoints. After that we had to make a portrait using multiple smartphones. We did this by taking a photo of someones part of their face, for example a nose or an eye. We put the photos next to one another to make a portrait.

then we had to make a mobile choreography as a video instead of a photo. this was a free assignment so we could do anything for this.

Lastly we had to make another video and edit it in multiple ways to show different themes.

reflection

We used mobile choreography to make a composition, a portrait and a movie and show different perspectives. In our composition we show a head from the front, but when you change perspectives, you can also see the inside of the head. So there is more going on ‘inside’ someone’s head than if you only look on the outside. We created a portrait with different body parts using different phones. It’s like a collage. Is it one head? Or are there different heads? In the movie we used mobile choreography to tell one story, made up of 4 different bits of the story. I think the movie shows best what you can do with mobile choreography. It’s more clearly a story than the portrait and the composition. Those are more collages and you have to guess what they want to tell. The montage of the movie turned out well, in my opinion.
