what is a collage?
A collage is a form of visual arts in which visual elements are combined to create a new image that conveys a message or idea. The artist uses different kind of materials or elements to make it.
3 famous artists
One of the first artists to create collages is Pablo Picasso. He used printed paper, newspaper and ink on paper. He cut those out and put them together to tell a story or idea.
Robert Rauschenberg is famous for his mixed media collages. For example he combined painting and sculpture. That way he could make 3D collages.
David Hockney makes photo collages. He is famous for his mosaics using small pieces of photos and making a portrait that way.
